Book Candles.

I am pretty sure this is my favorite craft, ever.

Book Candles!

Specifically...Harry Potter book candles!

These pictures don't even begin to show off the adorableness.

I was inspired by etsy...someone was selling tiny votive holders wrapped in random letters from a book. They were not cute, but it made me think about how a Harry Potter candle!

I bought a $2 HP book (Chamber of Secrets) at a used book store and (gasp!) cut strips/words/phrases/quotes/page numbers. The first snip of the scissors was terrifying, but I kept reminding myself this was for a greater cause, so it was okay.

All you need: a book, ModPodge, a sponge brush, a candle holder.

You just apply ModPodge to the glass holder and stick on strips...then apply more ModPodge. Be generous with it, but make sure it dries between coats. It WILL dry clear, I promise.

I started by just sticking pretty longish strips on the holder, just to cover the entire thing. Then, I went back and added one really important quote (see above- when Dobby earns his freedom with socks!), a bunch of other phrases (Dumbledore walked in), words (Chapter Two, the titles of Chapters, page numbers, etc...), and even those little stars that are on all of the pages.

Again, use LOTS of ModPodge. If you aren't familiar with ModPodge (it is super cheap at craft stores- and use a coupon), maybe experiment with paper scraps and an empty glass bottle (or even that jar of Ragu in your pantry?) first, just so you can see how much you need to use (more than you think).

"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
Albus himself.

*At first I was bummed when I could only find a used copy of number 2, but as I cut out quotes and words, I was really excited! It has so many important/awesome parts!*

I hot-glued a little bow around, just for extra festiveness.

You can also see the words that were on the backs of the pages...they show through the glass, so even the inside is special!!
