Stella.

So, I cannot let future Stella think that I let her Aunt Sissa beat me to posting about her! I am not sure what I was waiting on to post about her (well, I WAS waiting for a name). So, I will redeem myself by giving Stella her ENTIRE post all to herself.

Stella is a pretty special girl, because she is the daughter of someone really special to me...my friend, Emily Hortina Hawkins. I remember meeting her- standing in line during Rush (were we actually outside of the Tri Delta suite? Or was it another room?) in 1999- before our freshman year had even technically started. Emily is instantly memorable, for so many reasons, and I literally have that first image of her (grinning, eyes wide, excited about Rush- I think she was the only one excited and not just terrified- beaming at me in line). And, then there she was IN THE TRI DELTA ROOM on Bid Day!! And, she lived in the same dorm (South Carrick shout out!!) even though most of our pledge class lived in Humes. We were roomies Junior year, which cemented our friendship for two reasons: one, I feel like people always stay friends with their college roomies, right? Also, it was my Junior year when I fell pretty hard for a certain Huey, so dealing with lovestruck Nicole really took a special person.

When I think of Emily, I think of- in no particular order- her grinning, oranges (remember when they had all of those free oranges and we took like 70?), matching pajamas (us. nerds), our dads currently being best friends, donuts, Dominos thin crust pizza with green peppers (right?), and how much she LOVES, LOVES my Lily girl. She LOVES her like an aunt, I am serious. And, NOW, I get to be an aunt to my little Stella! I literally started crying when she called to tell me it was a girl, and all day I was just giddy! I kept texting Emily, saying "I just love her!" And, Emily kept replying, "I know! I have been trying to tell you for 3 years that this is how I feel about Lily!"

So, I am excited. Hello Future Stella if you are reading this post. (Emily, make her read it one day!). We are so excited about you!

  3. I feel so loved! This is why we are best friends and sisters! I love you both so much. And of course my other mom Moosh!

Stella has been kicking a lot, I'm pretty sure it's because she knows how much she's loved out here and wants to meet all these special people. I can't wait to meet her and introduce her to her godmother and two aunts!!
